![]() Consider getting a double rail if you have even a small gap between the bed and the wall. ![]() Double rails are usually connected by a strap underneath the bed. If not, you’ll need a pricier double rail, one to protect each side. If your child’s bed fits securely against the wall, you only need a single rail. ![]() ![]() This works well in some homes, but not in others. Single or double rail: Many parents place their child’s bed against the wall for safety. In a pinch, they can be used with a platform bed or bunkie board (the flat board that supports a top bunk or loft mattress), but they won’t be as stable and may not sit at a 90° angle. The arms need pressure from above and below to hold them in place, so they don’t work well with beds that use slats to support the mattress. Many rail arms are additionally secured with a strap that spans the width of the bed and may attach to the other side. The arms slide between the bed’s mattress and box spring, which sandwich them in place. The panels are stabilized by strong, flat arms to which they connect at a 90° angle. These tough frames are covered with soft fabrics and mesh to make them more comfortable to the touch. Mattress and box springīed rails are flat panels framed with steel, PVC, or other strong plastics to make a sturdy barrier that keeps your child from rolling out of bed. The type of bed your child uses is a big factor in determining which bed rails will work best: one with a box spring or one without. Note: You may want to use a bed rail in conjunction with a bed alarm monitor and bed sensor pad, to provide the most help in keeping a fall risk patient safe. The rail then slides down, flush with the bed, to allow your patient to exit the bed uninhibited by the rail. To release the rail so your patient can get out of bed, you simply pull the spring-loaded safety release knobs on each side of the rail. Rail easily adjusts up or down with spring-loaded release buttons, and features an attractive brown vein finish. Rail height of 30" (from base of mattress) even accommodates luxury mattresses up to 17" tall. This can protect and slow down a potential fall risk patient. The 57" setting will mean they have to scoot most of the way down the bed before leaving. The 43" setting will also allow the patient to use the rail to sit up, but also slow any attempt to leave their bed without assistance because the rail will go at least half way down the bed. If you have the rail set at 37", it means the patient can use the bed rail to assist in sitting up, but the rail will also stop them from immediately rolling from the bed. The three adjustable lengths allow you to have the length 1/3, 1/2, or most of the way down the bed. This means you can adjust the bed rail length to fit your patient and how you think is best for your situation. Rail length can be adjusted without tools to 37", 43" or 57" long and rail fits all home style beds. (Does not fit on a Standard, Eastern King.) Crossbars come with extensions that will accommodate a Twin through a California King size bed. ![]() Tranquility SlimLine Original Disposable Brief Provides Heavy ProtectionĪ Home Style Bed Rail - Provides a rail on both sides of the bed.ĭesigned specifically to be used with traditional style beds used in the home, (not suitable for hospital beds).Nurse Call Light Systems for Hospitals & Clinics.Motion Sensor Alarm For Elderly Patients.Complete Caregiver Alert System Packages.Chair and Bed Alarms for Seniors For Fall Prevention. ![]()
